Change in the house of Katabasis
And here we are 2025. This car has gotten its yearly update without fail since i got it in 2017. I started this year off with the personal goal to be better personally and to get the car to its final resting state (we all know this is a lie). So In early January I decided to bite the bullet and buy all the pieces needed for the yearly update at once. Todays post is in regards to my Carbon Miata NB mazdaspeed wing (oh no a replica of a once fragile poorly made part!). Well it has finally arrived and I am in love. Taking inspiration from Icantdrivemanul as well as the CF look on new civic type R’s here I am.
Carbon Miata NB Mazdaspeed Replica wing, Carbon Miata Aluminum Base plates, Kazespec Wing risers
I purchased KazeSpec wing risers prior to even getting the wing as I knew it was the agressive look i wanted. This ended up being the right choice for my build. The next scary step was to drill into the trunk and ensure even mounting points as I did not want a crooked/uneven wing. Below shows some of the measurements taken prior to holes being drilled (came out pretty solid considering its a NA trunk with a NB wing.
Measure 100X drill once
Bottom of trunk nut capture hole, almost looks oem!
And as we get to the home stretch of this post we have not got to mock it up on my car. I am still sorting out trunk alignment but overall it came out nice!. Having a second option for a trunk and wing is for sure a luxury but to not feel complacent with my car it was required. I have some more spice coming for the rear of the car soon enough but this will have to scratch the itch for now.
Offset riser side view, pushes the wing back just enough to give that aggressive feel.
The money shot, my muse.
And this concludes my update of the cars current status. More to come as we roll out of winter into early spring! One last fiberglass component is left before we bring items to paint and the car is assembled for its yearly refresh. I will catch yall on the next one - Katabasis
